For New Customers

I have a new company and don't know where to start. Can you help?
Yes! We'll be happy to help fill you in on the basics of the web. We'll talk you through the pros and cons of various types of site, and the expenses involved in getting everything up and running. Just drop us an email, or give us a ring!

I have a website already but I'm considering looking for someone a new webmaster. Can you help?
Yes! We have a track record of taking on existing websites built in a variety of ways. We can either take a copy of your old site from the web for you (if you old webmaster is not being very helpful!) or we can take when your old webmaster gives us and take over hosting. Just drop us an email, or give us a ring!

I am wanting to ditch Wanadoo/BTOpenworld/OneTel, can you help?
We are not an Internet Service Provider. We can't offer you a connection to the internet. If you're an existing client with us we can offer you friendly advice but aside from that we don't act as consultants for the general public seeking a new ISP.

How long does it take to build a website?

Naturally, that depends on what you want your website to look like, and what you want it to do. To give you a rough idea, we can turn a basic site around in roughly a week. If we are provided with a sketch of how the design should look, all photos that need to a appear on the site, and all text to fill all the pages, then from quotation to going live we could probably get your site on the internet in three days, assuming that business isn't too manic. The reality is that nothing even goes smoothly. There will be half a dozen people you know who want to see the design before it goes ahead, and generally someone comes up with a bright idea on how to change the design just before it gets final approval, and delays increase. Provision of content is never quick and easy either because as a client you will be trying to run your business and have a life in the real world, as well as trying to get it up and running online. Content for a website always seems to take a week longer to organise than you plan for. To be realistic we'd say allow three weeks for everything to come together, if we all get out skates on. To be pragmatic if you don't want to miss a deadline, we'd say allow six weeks from start to finish, especially if you're more than just a one-man-band. Yes, this does sound a long time but trust us, that time will fly when you set it yourself as a deadline.

Can you help me fix my email problems?
Our technical support stretches as far as helping you to set up email accounts for domain names which we have registered for you. As a client of ours we will also help you troubleshoot certain simple problems that you may be having with your email or internet connection but beyond that we can't act as a help desk for every Outlook, Windows or Virus related problem that arises.

Why does your hosting seem expensive? I can get free hosting elsewhere!
If you have found geniune, free, quality hosting with no strings attached then congratulations, you've achieved the impossible! What you may have found is a hosting service which places adverts on your page, or generates popups, or requires you to dial up with their ISP, or other similar revenue-generating scheme. If you're not concerned about looking professional then one of those routes is fine for you. We however offer free hosting for 12 months as part of a web design quote. Our hosting fees are fully inclusive and you won't be caught out by hidden charges. If you're trying to compare like-with-like when you see other webdesign companies offering cheaper hosting, then you don't know how good our hosting support team is! We have 24 hour technical support from a prestigious award-winning server team plus phone support, a ring-back service and fully-featured hosting. Please contact us to learn more.

Can you help me fix hardware problems with my computer?
I'm sorry but we can't. As a rule we don't offer software tech support, except for email problems which fall into our domain, and hardware support is completely out of the question. We don't have the time, space or facilities to run a computer repair workshop.

I want a really simple website. Can't you do it really, really cheap?
We will consider each job on its own merits but if you're after a design and build then we won't go lower than £245, and that really is a small site. If you come to us with a design and you want us to build the HTML template when we're happy to discuss a lower quote based on an hourly rate.

I don't have a company name or logo or anything. Can you help?

2catchafly provides complete website solutions. If you haven't the first idea how start building your company brand, we can help. We will produce a set of logo ideas and different colours, even some strap lines if you wish. Let us know how much control we have and we'll take it from there.

If I need my website constantly updating, how will that work?
Think carefully about how often your site really needs updating. Is it a vital element of the site and are you really going to get round to doing it every week, or is it just an idea that will fall by the wayside? If you decide that updates are really only needed every couple of months then let us do it, and if its only a few text changes then we'll include it as part of the cost of the website. If, on the other hand, you need a new page making quite often, or some graphical work, then we'd charge you by the hour at £35 per hour. If your website needs to be updated all the time, such as with the latest news or whatever, then we can install a content management system. This would allow you to log with a password and do all the work yourself. If you're talking about updating stock for selling, then you need to think about an e-commerce website rather than a static HTML site.

For Existing Customers

You've hosted my site free for a year but I can get hosting slightly cheaper elsewhere. Can I switch?
Of course you can switch. We don't take offense to people taking their hosting elsewhere. We're happy to continue to maintain your website. Just provide us with the login details for the new host and we'll move your site for you.

Can I take my website away from the control of 2catchafly?
You can and you're perfectly within your rights to. You've bought and paid for the service of having a website built and hosting, and that's what you get, regardless of what you chose to do subsequently. However, we would be very curious to know why you want to leave us. Its unheard of for a legitimate client to leave us on bad terms, and we try everything to ensure customer satisfaction. There's basically no service we can't provide and we don't like to be beaten on price, so why would you leave us?!

How can I check the number of people visiting my site?
We provide a complete stats package as part of our hosting. Please contact is to find out how to access it.

Can I change the way my website is updated?
That depends. You can easily change the payment plan by which your site is updated. If you have chosen to have a static site updated by us every quarter then that cost will have been built into the site. If, however you suddenly realise it needs updating once a month, we're going to have to charge you an hourly rate of £35 per hour. If on the other hand you want complete control over the site then you're going to need a content management system. To build one of those into an established static site its going to cost you a bit, I'm afraid. Give as a ring to talk about it.

Can I have the HTML, PSD, FLA and MAX source files used to build my website?
You can buy from us a website or an animation, but you do not own the rights to the tools and material we used to make up the site. The original Photoshop artwork, Flash file or MAX models remain our intellectual property. Whilst technically the final website is also our intellectual property, there is generally no quibble in providing a customer copy of the website for instance when it is needed to be hosted elsewhere, however we do reserve the right to restrict distribution of the websites designs and their contents.

Why am I get bombarded by spam through my website email address?
You're a victim of your own success. The people responsible for creating spam run software to harvest email addresses from across the web. The more visible your website is, and the more hits it gets, the greater the percentage of these hits will be undesirable elements after your precious email address. There are a couple of measures we can put in place to make sure that email only reaches you via a specific address, and not just 'anything@yourdomain.com' however spam is sadly a problem we face on a daily basis. If we could stop you from getting it, we would have stopped ourselves from getting it long ago, but we can't. You have three options: Don't put your email address on your website, look for some sophistical spam-busting software, or put up with it.

Why isn't my 'Dave Smith Cars Website' top of Google when I search for 'cars'?
Search engine listings are complicated systems. To attempt to adequately explain them here would be impossible. Sufficed to say search engine results vary based on factors such as: how competative the term is, how many websites link to your website, how certain words appear on your website and how big your site is. Using a domain name such as 'www.dave-smith-cars.com' might also help a little but these are all small factors in a very big picture. Companies targeting high placings on lucrative terms are investing tens of thousands of pounds in SEO work so you have to decide what your marketing budget is and ask us for advice before you decide you want to create the next 'Amazon'.

I have set up email accounts in Outlook with the incoming and outgoing servers as 'mail.mydomain.com' but I can't send email. Why?
Certain ISP are choosy about how you send email. They like you to send your outgoing mail through their server, even if its your own email with your own website address attached to it. Try these outgoing mail servers to see if it solves the problem: Wanadoo - 'smtp.wanadoo.co.uk', BTOpeworld - 'mail.btopenworld.com', Tiscali - 'smtp.tiscali.co.uk'.
